PUBG’s New Map Codename: Savage Goes Into Testing Today

By Keith MitchellApril 2, 2018

No doubt that you’ve heard the rumblings of a new map being worked on for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Codename: Savage, as it’s being called, is a 4x4km map that was announced during GDC 2018. It’s a huge map, for sure and fans have been drooling over its arrival. Well, get ready as we have some more news about it.

This will be an early, unfinished version of the map. Your feedback during this testing period will help drive the direction of our development. https://t.co/Sqvmdq9jQP

As mentioned by Brendan Green, the upcoming map would be available on the PUBG testing servers as of April. Now that it is April, the map will be made available today. However, there’s a catch on how this testing phase will work. Since this map is still very much new, keys will be handed out that will unlock the map. Meaning not everyone will be able to get access to the new map. For those looking to get a key, head over to https://mapbeta.playbattlegrounds.com for a chance at a key.

This is also only available for PUBG owners on Steam and only one key per account. If you aren’t able to snag one from the website, don’t fret. There will be several websites providing keys, as well as chances to get one via the PUBG Twitter account.

Once you have the key, you’ll have to wait for the testing window to start. The first beta window is planned for April 2nd 7 pm PDT  / 10 pm EDT – April 5th 4 am  PDT / 7 am EDT. As you can see this is an extremely short testing phase.

You can now sign up for access to test the new, 4x4km map, Codename: Savage on our Experimental Test Server. The first testing period will begin today at 7PM PDT. Sign up here: https://t.co/2NGtcqeFnf pic.twitter.com/d5ugxZ9H0Y

Folks, since this is basically a beta, please try and provide feedback for the Bluehole team. The reason they’re doing this is so that the maps they make are enjoyable and work well. I can stress this enough, especially since so many people treat beta’s as “I got a key to play the game early”. Please provide some viable feedback!

We’ll be checking it out the map for ourselves, and will have our impressions of it after we get killed a few times.
