Snowpiercer TV Show Given the Green Light by TNT

By Andrew AgressJanuary 11, 2018
Snowpiercer

A couple years ago TNT announced that a Snowpiercer TV pilot would be on its way. TNT has officially given the series the go ahead and released more info on the show. Based on the hit 2013 science fiction film directed by Bong Joon-ho, the show will further explore the lives of those living on the titular train. Evidently it will be a prequel, as it will take place just seven years after the Earth has iced over. The film takes place nearly twenty years after. Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly will have starring roles as two of the passengers aboard the globe traveling train.

Diggs is known for originating the roles of Thomas Jefferson and the Marquis de Lafayette in the hit musical Hamilton. Connelly has been in a number of films including Labyrinth and A Beautiful Mind. She recently provided the voice of A.I. Karen in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The former will take on the role of Layton Well, a man delegated to the poverty stricken back end of the train. The latter will play Melanie Cavill, the “Voice of the Train” responsible for daily announcements.

Scott Derrickson, director of Doctor Stranger, will direct and executive produce the Snowpiercer series. Lena Hall, Alison Wright, and Benjamin Haigh will also be getting on board Snowpiercer for its eventual arrival on television.

Andrew comes from the majestic land of New Jersey (the part that doesn't smell). A big fan of sketch comedy, he writes and performs it whenever possible. He gets his powers from listening to indie folk music and drinking aloe water.
