SDCC 2017 – New Trailer for “The Defenders” Shows Off the Big Bad

By Sara Roncero-MenendezJuly 21, 2017

As The Defenders‘s premiere draws closer, more and more fans are wondering what adventures our four Manhattan misfits are going to get into. And of course the answer comes at the panel at San Diego Comic Con, where this new trailer appeared:

In it, we see that Electra has been reborn as the Red Sky, and the Hand is beginning their takeover of the city. Part of that takeover is Alexandra, played by Sigourney Weaver, who is in league with Madame Gao to destroy what is left of the city. It’s up to Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist to keep it standing, if they can stand each other. But as the people they love are being targeted by the Hand, they will be forced to get over their differences and work together.

The trailer shows a lot more of the action and interplay of our four mains, with Daredevil and Jessica Jones as the snark squad and Luke Cage and Iron Fist taking up more of their comic roles as each other’s support. Having the four work off each other in the trailer proves to be great comedy and drama, though hopefully they are saving a few surprises for the show.

The Defenders will premiere on Netflix on August 18, 2017.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
