SDCC 2017 – Is Darkwing Duck Heading to Duckburg in ‘DuckTales’ revival?

By Clinton Bowman-ChristieJuly 22, 2017

Let’s. Get. Dangerous! Disney XD’s upcoming revival of the beloved Disney Afternoon series DuckTales may be adding one more member to the crew: Darkwing Duck.

The creators of the David Tennant-led reboot revealed the inclusion of Darkwing during their panel on Friday in a reel of sneak peek footage. A brief sighting of the crime-fighting mallard seemed to confirm the character’s appearance in the series, along with his motorcycle and one of his many nemeses, Megavolt.

Darkwing Duck’s inclusion was teased a bit at last weekend’s D23 Expo, however, Matt Youngberg and Francisco Angones stayed mum on how the character will be incorporated, or whether or not he’ll appear during the one-hour movie premiere on August 12, or the series itself on September 23rd.

The key link between the two universes has been Launchpad McQuack, voiced in the new series by Beck Bennett. In the Disney Afternoon series, Launchpad was both Scrooge McDuck’s personal pilot as well as DW’s sidekick and housemate.
