Anime Expo 2017: News from Crunchyroll’s Panel

By Josh PiedraJuly 2, 2017
Crunchyroll

During the second day of Anime Expo 2017, Crunchyroll made several announcements regarding simulacasts and simulpublishes of anime and manga!

First off, Crunchyroll announced that they will be simulcasting a few anime titles as they air in Japan this summer. The titles that they will air are:

  • Aho-Girl
  • Elegant Yokai Apartment Life
  • Netsuzou Trap -NTR-
  • Tsuredure Children

Streaming times have not been announced as of yet.  In addition to the anime above, Crunchyroll also announced that they will also stream Kino’s Journey -The Beautiful World-. This show isn’t slated until the fall anime season which will start this October.

On the manga side of things, Crunchyroll announced that they will be publishing three manga titles simultaneously as they are released in Japan. The titles announced are as follows:

  • Final Fantasy: Lost Stranger – July 12
  • Knight’s & Magic – July 5
  • Restaurant to Another World – July 2

In addition to Crunchyroll, Yen Press announced that they will also simultaneously publish Final Fantasy: Lost Stranger. This will be Final Fantasy’s first official manga series! A story description for the manga was provided by Crunchyroll and is as follows:

Scoring a job at Square Enix, Sasaki Shogo’s dream of producing a Final Fantasy game finally seems within his grasp! But after he starts, he quickly discovers that the work has nothing to do with his favorite franchise at all… Disillusioned, his enthusiasm for FF begins waning despite his sister / co-worker Yuko’s attempts to lift his spirits. Their conversation is cut short, though, when a runaway truck suddenly careens toward the two of them…!

When Shogo comes to, the first thing he sees is…a Moogle?! Wait, was that a Cure spell? And chocobos…?! Hurled into a Final Fantasy world unbound to any particular installment, how will an uber-fan like Shogo survive?!
