Final Fantasy XIV Could Still Be Ported To Nintendo Switch!

By Todd BlackJune 5, 2017
Final Fantasy XIV

Ok, so Square Enix has been one of Nintendo’s biggest supporters on the Nintendo Switch system. They were a big part of the launch lineup with games likes I Am Setsuna, and they’ve promised to try and port as many of their titles as they can to it. A promise they’re fulfilling with announcements of The Lost Sphear, Project Octopath, and more heading to it. But a big thing that Square Enix has been teasing is bringing over Final Fantasy XIV.

If you don’t know, that’s the big Final Fantasy MMORPG, which would be a first for a Nintendo console in many aspects, yet, Square Enix wants to do it…under certain conditions. As Director Naoki Yoshida notes to Finder, Nintendo will listen to them about how it needs to be done:

“We need to make sure Nintendo and Microsoft understand what we do and have them know about our online and QA regulations”, Yoshida explained. “We believe these conversations will take a long time.”

That’s very fair, as they don’t want just “a port” they want something that’ll play well on the systems they put it on and get gamers to play them. Will Final Fantasy XIV come to the Switch? It’s hard to say, but it’d be a big win for Nintendo if they did.
