Play Chess in Virtual Reality with Ultra Chess and PS VR!

By Yhani JonesFebruary 27, 2017
Chess Ultra

The classic board game, chess, undergoes its latest iteration with Ultra Chess this Spring and developers have included plenty of support for PlayStation.

Ripstone Games are the minds behind the sequel to 2012’s Pure Chess, and this time focuses on bringing players the ultimate chess playing experience. This game is cross-platform, however, PlayStation recently released their trailer for the game focusing of its unique features for PS4 Pro and PS VR.

Owners of the PS4 Pro will certainly notice the stunning environments and precise, rendered textures on their 4K television throughout the match. This game runs at a smooth 60 frames per second and lead producer at Ripstone Games, Kelly Willoughby, mentions how hard the team worked to make this a spectacular new chess game for everyone to enjoy.

We’ve worked really hard to make every inch of Chess Ultra shine and we think you’re really going to get the wow factor when you boot up the game.

In addition to all of the beauty packed into Chess Ultra, there are many features available as well. For those that want to play alone, there are 10 different AI levels you can play against to master your skills with. For players that want to compete online, Chess Ultra gives fans of the game the chance to play with others from all around the world!

Ripstone Games is excited to bring this game to PlayStation and Willoughby mentions that they have many surprises in store and can’t wait to share them with us in the future!

As the first internally developed game for PlayStation from Ripstone Games, Chess Ultra is extremely special to all of us here, and we can’t wait for you to get your hands on it this spring. Expect to hear from me again soon!
