Mega Man 2.5D Now Available

By Josh PiedraFebruary 15, 2017
Mega Man

The long-awaited and much-anticipated fan game from Peter Sjöstrand, Mega Man 2.5D had officially been released!

While the game looks, plays and feels like a classic 8-bit Mega Man title, the backgrounds and levels are all rendered in 3D.  At certain points in the level, Mega Man will change his axis and the camera will pan, giving you the full sense of a 3D world while keeping the action on a 2D plane (hence the 2.5D in the title.)

The game feels very Paper Mario-esque, but unlike the Paper Mario games, Mega Man has the option of a 2-Player mode in which another person will take control of Proto Man.  In this co-op mode, both players will have to work together in order to solve puzzles throughout the stages in order to advance.

The official website describes the game as follows:

Mega Man 2.5D is a fan game developed by a small team of obsessive Mega Man fans. It began in 2009 as an animated proof-of-concept. This got a surprising amount of positive response, and because of this a couple of us got together with the goal of making a playable game out of it.

There are mainly two things that set Mega Man 2.5D apart from most other Mega Man games. The first is the co-op mode, where two players team up to take on Dr. Wily. The other is the use of camera perspective changes which is featured a lot in the single-player mode of the game.

To get the game, you have a few options, all of which are detailed at http://petersjostrand.com/. You can also Like the game’s Facebook page here.
