Watch The New Nintendo Direct Coming September 1st

By Tyler KelbaughAugust 30, 2016

Unfortunately the Nintendo Direct’s focus is not about what you’d think…

This Thursday Nintendo will be hosting its first Nintendo Direct in North America since March. The caveat? The NX is once again not going to be discussed. This time the focus is entirely on Nintendo 3DS games, so strap on your seat belts and attempt to get hype for more Pokemon reveals!

A new Nintendo Direct is on the way! Be sure to check it out this Thursday at 7 a.m. PT! pic.twitter.com/VcyH8lpy93

The timing for a 3DS only Nintendo Direct seems a bit off, considering the rumors that the NX would be revealed sometime in September. These two reveals definitely aren’t mutually exclusive, the NX still could be unveiled during the month, but I could definitely see how a 3DS Nintendo Direct could rub fans the wrong way. We want news about the NX dammit! It launches in just over six months!

Still, it is interesting and exciting to see a 3DS only Direct. Perhaps Nintendo will end up supporting the handheld even after the NX is launched. Personally, I find myself glued to my 3DS far more often than any other gaming device. It still has legs, and an already pretty impressive install base. Keeping the content coming definitely makes me happy.

I can't be the only one to think Nintendo Directs just aren't the same without Iwata.

Nintendo has been pouring a lot of energy into pushing 3DS systems and games lately. Yesterday, a beautiful new Galaxy New Nintendo 3DS XL was revealed by Reggie Fils-Amie. There’s been more Pokemon Sun and Moon news than one could dream of, and Nintendo recently added new quality 3DS titles to their Nintendo Selects games list.

Let me know in the comments what you expect from the newest Nintendo Direct. I for one am hoping for some more Fire Emblem: Fates DLC, but that’s a long shot at best. If I were a betting man I’d put it all on Pokemon news. Lots and lots of Pokemon news.
