Kojima Reveals New Mascot’s Face

By Jason KwasnickiJune 6, 2016

Today, Gamespot was the recipient of the latest teaser from Hideo Kojima in the form of a new picture of his new studio’s mascot, Ludens:

The tagline “I’ll Keep Coming” is not only classic banter from the man (Think “Kept You Waiting”), but is a very meta-commentary on the past few years of the auteur’s career. This begs the question: is Ludens the protagonist of their new IP? Will we get a larger teaser at E3?

Currently, the newly formed Kojima Productions is working on a new title for the Playstation 4 and PC in partnership with Sony. This came after a long period of drama between Kojima and his former employer, Konami, and the fallout that ensued. Following the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Kojima left the company and, after a short break, formed a new studio with the backing of Sony.

Last month, he had an interview with Famitsu in which he confirmed that the upcoming game is a AAA action game, and that “those that enjoy playing today’s AAA titles such as The Division and Uncharted will be able to play it smoothly.”

As a longtime fan of Kojima’s shenanigans (not to mention his games), it’s exciting to see him back in the game. We might not be getting Silent Hills, but we at least have Ludens. For more as this story develops, stay tuned to The Outerhaven.

Born and raised in the New York area, currently kicking it in Queens, and keeping an ear to the grindstone in this crazy world of internet media hustling. Having attended the George Washington University with a Degree in History, I'm sometimes inclined to use big words unnecessarily. While I typically play a lot of RPGs, I tend to like any game that is fun. My PSN ID is NY-Miller, so hit me up if you ever want to kill some Wizards on the Moon in Destiny.
