K Project Receives New Anime

By Josh PiedraApril 30, 2016

During the K Media Project on Saturday, it was announced during the K – Did You Know? event that studio GoHands will be producing a fourth installment in the K anime series.  Shingo Suzuki will be returning as the Character Designer and Director of the anime series. The new anime is slated to be called K: Seven Stories; however, there is no other information regarding it at this time.  The original series, simply called K, ran from October to December in 2012 and lasted for 13 episodes.  It followed the stories of the Red Clan HOMRA and the Blue Clan SCEPTER4 and their kings.  A sequel was produced in the form of a movie called K: Missing Kings that focused on the missing Silver and Gold Kings as well as the rise of the Green Clan, JUNGLE.  The movie aired in July 2014 in Japan.  A television anime series, K: Return of Kings, was produced as a sequel to the movie and aired from October to December 2015 and lasted for 13 episodes.  There, we saw the conclusion to the series.

In addition to the announcement of the new anime series, a stage play known as K – Lost Small World was announced as well. The play adapts the spinoff novel which tells how Misaki Yata and Saruhiko Fushimi met and parted ways.  The play is currently set to run from July 22 to July 24 in Tokyo at the AiiA 2.5 Theater and again on July 30 and July 31 at Kyoto Gekijou Theater.

The series is currently licensed by Viz Media for release in North America and is available for legal streaming on Hulu and Neon Alley.
