ESCAFLOWNE Kickstarter Goal Reached

By Josh PiedraMarch 2, 2016

A few days ago, we reported that FUNimation had started a Kickstarter project to raise money to do an HD dubbing of The Vision of Escaflowne.  The goal was originally set to $150,000 and as of Tuesday, the campaign had reached a total of $152,858.  At the time of publishing this article, they have raised $160,798 with 28 days still left on the campaign, which ends on March 31, 2016.

FUNimation will  be releasing the anime on Blu-Ray in a Director’s Cut edition. This edition will include scenes that didn’t air during the anime’s original release from Bandai Entertainment. In addition to re-dubbing the series, FUNimation will use the same cast to dub Escaflowne: The Movie as a bonus. FUNimation is set to release a standard edition and a collector’s edition for the series. The standard edition will be a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and both discs will have the director’s cut with the new dub. The collector’s edition will include an exclusive interview with director Kazuki Akane and creator Shoji Kawamori as well as an optional audio track containing the old dub.

There are still stretch goals to hit as well as rewards you can get in on. You can head over to the Kickstarter page and back this if you haven’t done so and wish to reap the benefits of those rewards.
