Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for PC shows up on the Windows 10 store

By Keith MitchellFebruary 23, 2016

As part of Microsoft’s renewed commitment to supporting the PC as a gaming platform, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition was announced to be making it’s way over to the PC back in 2015. However we haven’t heard or seen much of anything since then, that is until today as the title has shown up on the Windows 10 store. While not available for purchased and seemingly appears as a placeholder, the system specs for the game have been shown off as well several new screenshots.

However the PC port of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will have several new updates that set it apart from it’s Xbox One counterpart, including 4K  (Tv/Monitor) support and remastered 7.1 surround sound support.

The landmark original returns, stunningly remastered and modernized for Windows 10 featuring all-new ultra-high definition graphics up to 4K resolution. Click “More” for details! The planet lies in ruin. An inmate named Marcus Fenix – once left to die – is humanity’s only hope versus the relentless Locust. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Windows 10 is loaded with new content including five campaign chapters not included in the Xbox 360 version. Windows 10 players will also receive the Deluxe Weapon Skin Pack and 11 bonus multiplayer characters.

I’m not sure what they’re getting at with the new campaign chapters as Gears of War:UE wasn’t even released on the Xbox 360, nor do I own the Xbox One version. Perhaps that meant the original Gears of War that the game is based off or perhaps that’s just a typo. I guess we’ll find out when the game is finally released. And would you look at the system requirements for playing at 1080p and 4K? 16GB of ram? Is Microsoft seriously with that or are they just covering their bases, because that’s  lot of ram for just one game, especially at 1080p.

There’s currently no price or ETA on when we can expect Gears of War Ultimate Edition to be released on the PC just yet, nor do we know the case of the delay.
