Guardians of the Galaxy animated series cast announcements

By Walter MackFebruary 18, 2015

Through a series of tweet from @Marvel and @DisneyChannelPR, 60% of the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series’ main cast has been revealed.

First up is Trevor Devall as everyone’s favorite anthropomorphic Racoon, Rocket. Devall is no stranger to Marvel, as he has done voices for projects like Marvel Knight’s Wolverine vs. Sabretooth and voiced Rocket’s appearance in the Ultimate Spider-Man series.

Rocket’s best friend Groot will be played by Kevin Michael Richardson. Richardson has done numerous voices for hit shows like the Simpsons and Family Guy. He previously played the role of Groot on both Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble, both of which shares a tied universe with the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series.

Boy Meets World fans will recognize Will Friedle (who played Eric Matthews) as Star-Lord. Since the sitcom’s conclusion back in 2000, Friedle has kept himself busy with starring roles like Kim Possible (as Ron Stoppable) and Batman Beyond as the titular character. Friedle also has Marvel experience, having played the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool on Ultimate Spider-Man.

Stayed tuned for more. For my previous coverage on the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series, click here.

Walter is a California native. He is currently in his last year of college pursuing a B.A. in English, but is often mistaken for a freshman...or a middle school tourist on occassion. His earliest gaming experience was Pokemon Red version on the Gameboy color, which he played actively. He would dabble with the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 2 for a bit before transitioning to many years of F2P MMOs. He then moved on to League of Legends, with whom he as an on and off again relationship. He currently spends most of his game time on his Playstation 4. He's also a bit of a Marvel nut.
