Under the gun with Under the Dog – Less than 24 hours left!

By Holland CulbreathSeptember 6, 2014

I’ve got to apologize to all my fellow anime fans out there for letting this fly under my radar for so long, but we’ve got less than 24 hours to pitch in and take part in what may be the future of anime!

Well, it’s not quite that grandiose, but you get some of the creative minds behind titles such as: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell, No More Heroes, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Code Geass, and you’ve got a recipe for one hell of a ride if you ask me. And did I mention this ride is endorsed by the legendary Hideo Kojima himself?!

Under the Dog is a project for a new sci-fi action anime aiming for a thrilling story with stunning visuals (if the concept images are anything to go by). Its funding (and ultimately fate) is in our hands, via Kickstarter. The funding is to cover 1 episode length video, with more to come if the stretch goals are released. At a cursory glance it smacks heavily of Akira meets Gunslinger Girl, with a little twist of Ghost in the Shell. If that doesn’t get you hype as an anime fan, I don’t know what does! As a fun fact, the title is the phrase from which we get the word underdog. Kinda fitting for a Kickstarter project.

At the time of this post  Under the Dog has comfortably passed its minimum funding amount, to the tune of $750,000 (almost 200 grand over the asking price of $580,000). But if you want to join me and the thousands of others in supporting this potentially amazing project and getting your shot at some cool backer rewards, head on over to this Kickstarter page and check it out! RIGHT NOW!!!
