IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios have announced that 007 First Light has sold 1.5 million units within its first 24 hours, making it the fastest-selling title in IO Interactive’s history. Though, I’m sure that the game has sold more than this since this was revealed.
The milestone reflects strong global interest in IO Interactive’s take on James Bond, with the game launching to positive reception from both critics and players. 007 First Light currently holds an 88 OpenCritic rating and an 87 Metacritic score, helping establish it as one of 2026’s most successful gaming releases so far.
All in all, this is fantastic for IO Interactive. Outside of the Hitman series, many were not sure if the studio was up to the task of delivering a successful narrative-driven James Bond experience. Thankfully, it looks like those concerns were unwarranted.
We at The Outerhaven were also impressed with 007 First Light, scoring the game 4 out of 5 stars and calling it the best James Bond game we have played. Which, yes, includes the Nintendo 64 classic, GoldenEye 007.
007 First Light is the best James Bond game to date. Free from the shackles of licensed titles, First Light is able to tell a compelling origin story filled with political intrigue, espionage, and heart.
