XDefiant Surpasses 7.6 Million Players in First Week

Ubisoft’s new shooter, XDefiant, has seen a strong start. The game has drawn nearly 8 million unique players within its first week. Reports from Insider Gaming indicate that XDefiant had 7.6 million players at the time of writing and is expected to hit 8 million by the end of the day.

XDefiant made an impressive debut, attracting 1 million players in just 2.5 hours. By 48 hours post-launch, it had reached 3 million players. The game’s initial goal was to hit 5 million players within the first month, a target that has already been surpassed.

However, the number of unique players only tells part of the story. Developers and sources alike have pointed out that active and concurrent player numbers are more telling. XDefiant reached a peak of about 700,000 concurrent players on May 27th, a public holiday in many countries. Whether the game can maintain these numbers remains to be seen.

XDefiant is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game has faced some challenges, including hit registration issues and netcode problems, but Ubisoft is working on resolving these. The developers have committed to supporting the game for a long time, with plans for new maps, weapons, and factions in future updates.
