It was announced on May 23 that TOHO has acquired all shares of the anime studio Science SARU and has appointed it as a new subsidiary.
TOHO released an official statement that reads as follows:
“By welcoming the company into the group, we expect to strengthen our ability to produce high-quality animation and accelerate the speed of growth of our group’s animation business.”
Science SARU commented:
“Our mutual prospects for future business development are highly aligned. By joining the Toho Group, we aim to further grow our animation production business.”
Science SARU was founded in 2013 by Masaki Yuasa and Eunyoung Choi and has produced titles such as The Night is Short, Walk on Girl, Lu Over the Wall, INU-OH, Deviman Crybaby, and others.
