Witchfire enters early access later this year, new gameplay trailer released

Witchfire has been in development since it was revealed during the 2017 The Game Awards. Yet when it was first announced, I was captivated. So, I’m stoked that indie developers The Astronauts have revealed that Witchfire will enter early access on the Epic Game Store later this year.

Check out the gameplay trailer below.

Witchfire is a roguelite first-person shooter set in a dark fantasy setting. In this world, players will be tasked with taking down witches, who are very real and dangerous. As a witch hunter, you’ll utilize a number of weapons and abilities to help you on your mission.

Witchfire will be the second release for The Astronauts, following the BAFTA award-winning title, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. The studio’s upcoming shooter returns co-founders Adrian Chmielarz, Michał Kosieradzki, and Andrzej Poznański to their roots— they are also the developers behind the trigger-happy hits Painkiller and Bulletstorm from their time at People Can Fly.

And if you hadn’t noticed, Witchfire will feature some damned sweet gunplay. Something of which The Astronauts are proud of and have talked about their vision of the game and more. If you haven’t read my piece about that, you can check it out here.

Look for Witchfire to be released via Epic Game Store early access later this year. I know I will be.
