Bandai Namco Shows Off A New Power Ranger Title At NYCC 2016

By Keith MitchellOctober 6, 2016

During the ongoing 2016 New York Comic Con, Bandai Namco showed off a new Power Rangers title for the PS4 and Xbox One. Surprisingly enough, this new title is based off the Saban Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. Yes, the original series. While I haven’t had a chance to make it over to the Bandai Namco booth, mainly because I haven’t arrived in New York as of yet, we did manage to get our hands on the trailer and I’m not 100% sure I’m digging what I’m seeing. Looks more kiddy than anything to me, though I’m more than happy to step into the shoes of the original rangers and bust some heads once again.

When I do make it to NYCC 2016, I’ll definitely see if we can get a few minutes of hands-on gameplay and provide feedback on how it plays.

Full press release below.

BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. today announces SABAN’S MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS™: MEGA BATTLE for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One. The digital game will be available in the Americas in January 2017. For fans to enjoy, SABAN’S MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS: MEGA BATTLE reimagines and brings to life the classic adventures of the original SABAN’S MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS, one of the longest-running, kids action series in TV history. It will deliver classic beat-em-up gameplay and build upon the original series’ high-flying martial arts action and positive message of teamwork and honor; celebrating the nostalgia that surrounds SABAN’S MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS.

SABAN’S MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS: MEGA BATTLE
features levels that are reminiscent of classic episodes from the first two seasons of SABAN’S MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS TV show. The game enables players to select their Power Ranger of choice and level-up his or her abilities throughout the game as they fight grotesque enemies and bosses. Adept use of martial arts, weapons, and giant Megazord™ battles will play crucial roles in ensuring players’ victory against evil. SABAN’S MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS: MEGA BATTLE will also feature a robust local co-op multiplayer mode where players can combine their powers to execute special attacks and spectacular displays of martial arts power. By utilizing the game’s skill tree, players can use points to learn new moves and abilities.

Currently rated “E10+” for Everyone 10+ by the ESRB, SABAN’S MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS: MEGA BATTLE will be available digitally in the Americas for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One in January 2017.
