It was announced that the game development company, Yukes, is set to acquire the shares of AQUAPLUS, officially making it a subsidiary of Yukes. This transaction will also include the subsidiary of AQUAPLUS, F.I.X. RECORDS, Inc.
The full acquisition is scheduled to be completed on August 29 and is valued at ¥783,520,000 ($5.3 million).
The acquisition is part of Yuke’s medium-to-long-term growth plan, where they look to promote independent development, establish publishing functions, and improve their IP creation capabilities. AQUAPLUS looks to fill the void of their publishing capabilities.
AQUAPLUS is primarily a visual novel publishing company while Yukes was mainly known to American audiences by producing the WWE SmackDown vs Raw game series, as well as the more recent AEW Fight Forever game. They also created the Double Dragon Revive game.
