Yoshi-P Praises Nintendo, Mario and Dragon Quest For Getting Him Into Game Development

We all have to start somewhere, and when it comes to our “desired jobs,” we get inspired to do them in different ways. Maybe we saw something that inspired us, or heard something, or maybe even had that “inner drive” to do better than what was done before. In the case of video game development, there are many ways to be inspired, and that includes certain legends like Yoshi-P being inspired in unique ways. The Final Fantasy producer was doing an interview with Famitsu when he revealed his inspirations were Nintendo, Mario, and Dragon Quest!

Final Fantasy XVI Producer Yoshi-P says playing Super Mario Bros. on the NES/Famicom inspired him to make video games. He was also heavily influenced by Dragon Quest III. The twist that it's actually a prequel inspired his love of stories in games.www.famitsu.com/article/2025…

Pretty cool, huh? Like I said, we all have to start somewhere, and there’s plenty of irony in his statements, including that very Dragon Quest title being one of the best-selling games in Japan last year and the other two parts of the initial trilogy coming out soon.

Plus, Square Enix is likely to drop many titles on the Nintendo Switch 2 this year and next, so his inspiration has come full circle in many respects. It’s nice to see thigns like this happen, wouldn’t you say?
