Ah yes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, is easily one of my favorite Spider-man movies and one I’ve seen multiple times since its theatrical release. To say I’m a fan is an understatement. So, of course, I wanted to find out when this movie would hit Blu-ray and streaming services, and I’m sure this is something that you’re also wondering.
Well, to get to the fat of it, I have no idea. When it comes to films hitting streaming services and physical media, it’s a toss-up because it depends on successful the film is/was in theaters and if the movie company wants to capitalize on its success. When a film does well in theaters is one thing, but when there’s a whole slew of movies on the horizon that now will go up against that said successful film, it changes the dynamics.
A great example is Fast X, a film that was released in theaters on May 19, 2023, but is already headed to streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, Apple TV+, and Google Play Movies & TV, on June 9, 2023. That’s not even an entire month in theaters, despite being the 5th highest-grossing movie of 2023, coming in at over $500 million worldwide.
So, where does that leave Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse? Well, the good news is that Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and the rest of the colorful crew have just hit the big screen and are doing well. The film hit theaters on June 1, 2023, and has grossed $133 million domestically and $88 million internationally. For just being in theaters for just under a week, the film is doing well.
When can we watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at home
As for when will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will come to Blu-ray and Streaming is anyone’s guess. Nothing has been leaked or confirmed as of yet. However, multiple locations, such as Amazon and Best Buy, are taking preorders for DVDs, Blu-ray, and downloads. Also, keep in mind that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a two-parter, with the second part, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, releasing on March 29 2023. Meaning we’ll see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hitting physical media and streaming services at least 3 to 4 months ahead of that release to drum up interest (not that this is needed).
