WEBTOON Entertainment and Studio N, the company’s Korean adaptation and production subsidiary, are celebrating the record-setting adaptation of My Daughter is a Zombie. The film premiered in South Korea on July 30, 2025 with the biggest opening day at the Korean box office this year with 430,000 admissions, surpassing the previous record held by Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning. The film debuts today in theaters across the U.S. and Canada.
In Korea, the film also achieved the highest opening day admissions figure ever for a theatrical comedy in the country’s history. It was also the fastest film of 2025 to surpass an attendance of two million people, which it reached in six days, as reported by the Korean Film Council.
Based on Lee Yoon-chang’s WEBTOON webcomic with 500 million global views online, the comedy follows a doting father who embarks on a top-secret training mission to protect his daughter – the last remaining zombie in the world. The film features a star-studded cast including Cho Jung-seok (Pilot), Lee Jung-eun (Parasite), Cho Yeo-jeong (Parasite), Yoon Kyung-ho (The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call), and Choi Yu-ri (Alienoid).
My Daughter is a Zombie is now screening in theaters across the United States and Canada. The film was originally distributed in Korea by NEW, in North America by JBG Pictures USA, and elsewhere internationally by Contents Panda.
