It may be hard to believe, but the Nintendo Switch 2 has been out for many days now. Many have taken the chance to get the system right out of the gate and have been enjoying things like Mario Kart World, while also enjoying their favorite OG Switch games in a whole new light. However, regardless of “fan satisfaction,” the real question here is about whether the Switch 2 would sell well at launch. There were many player accounts of stores being sold out, while others noted that their local stores had “plenty of units.” To be fair, both can be true (as I can personally attest to), but the numbers will be the final decider on how well the console did.
To that end, the following insider account claims that multiple sources stated the Nintendo Switch 2 moved over three million units JUST on June 5th alone. So the weekend that followed didn’t factor into the number. If that is true, this would make it the most successful console launch in history, and by a large margin.
Shoutout to @PaulGaleNetwork – the first person to clue me on this. The rest choose to remain private.

As the insider noted, previously, the record was held by the PS4 and PS5, which moved 4.5 million units in about two months. The PS4’s first 24 hours had it moving about a million units.
Again, this is unconfirmed by Nintendo and other sources, but if things keep tracking as they are, we could see the Nintendo Switch 2 possibly get over five million units sold in its first week. That would sure be a nice feather in the cap of Nintendo.
