VIZ Media Licences Otr of the Flame Manga

Otr of the Flame

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the newly-released Otr of the Flame manga in Shonen Jump, and now, Shueisha’s American branch, VIZ Media, has announced that they have licensed the manga.

Created by Yuuki Kawaguchi, who served as an assistant to Kohei Horikoshi (Boku no Hero Academia / My Hero Academia), Otr of the Flame is described as follows:

The world is encased in winter due to the advances of the Ice Kingdom. Kind-hearted Otr, who dreams of being a warrior like his dad, has been entrusted with keeping the fires burning as a cook in the fortress. But when the fortress is attacked by the demonic army of the Ice Kingdom, the people and the flame are in danger of being snuffed out. Can Otr awaken a power that can turn the tide? A hero’s journey of fire and ice now begins!

Since the manga is just beginning to release, VIZ Media will be hosting the chapters digitally. Once the tankoban gets collected and published, physical copies should become available.

In addition to VIZ Media, the manga can also be read on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus app. The first chapter was released in Japanese and English on May 11. The feedback for the first chapter has been mostly positive for this series.
