Virtua Fighter Project Gets New Gameplay Reveal at EVO USA 2025

By Keith MitchellAugust 3, 2025
New VIRTUA FIGHTER Project _ Combat Gameplay First Look - Training Stage Gameplay

With the continuation of EVO USA 2025 (that still feels weird to say) comes more exciting fighting game news. This time, SEGA was keen to show off more of its Virtua Fighter Project. We got to see a bit more combat featuring a character who isn’t Sarah Bryant, along with the mysterious, hat-wearing silhouette that might be Akira, sparring off in the new Training Stage.

While the gameplay snippet was super short, clocking at just about a minute long, it looked buttery smooth, and the game is still far from being completed and in our hands to play.

Sadly, that brief glimpse into the revival of Virtua Fighter wasn’t enough for me—and if you’ve played the series in the past, you probably feel the same. Thankfully, SEGA has assured fans that we won’t have to wait much longer, as the game will be showcased during the 2025 Tokyo Game Show in September.

There’s currently no release date for this upcoming Virtua Fighter game, nor do we know its final title just yet.
