Ubisoft’s Chroma Launched Today Helps Give More Testing For Accessibility

By Scott AdamsApril 14, 2025
Main app thumbnail for Ubisoft's Chroma. The text below the logo reads "A Colour Blindness Simulator For All"

If you are familiar with colorblind options, you probably have seen your own fair share of good and bad utilizations of it in video games. A lot of times, it is due to not knowing exactly how to make it or how to test it. Luckily, there is a new tool by Ubisoft called Chroma. This handy tool can apply various chroma filters that help pinpoint the right colors and shades that help those with colorblindness see the screen better. It is available right now for public use! This is a tool that was developed internally by Ubisoft initially to help with their games and make them more accessible to people who are colorblind.

As we have noted in Ubisoft’s most recent release Assassin’s Creed Shadows, they do a great job with colorblind features as well as accessibility in general. This tool is made public so that other game developers can learn to apply them in better ways. I hope we continue to see this tool being utilized when it comes to making games more accessible, as hundreds of millions of people are colorblind.

You can find more information on their blog post on Ubisoft.com or even the application to download on their github. I think it is a fantastic thing to have for the public to use.
