Top 5 Alcoholics In Anime

By Cole EckerleMarch 17, 2018

In the spirit of Saint Patrick’s Day, here is a top five list of alcoholics in anime! Every character on this list is based on my personal opinion. So if you don’t see one of your favorite drunks on this list, I apologize and hope that you may forgive me <3 I will always love you.

1. Aqua (Konosuba):

Aqua, our favorite drunken goddess, can never seem to pay for her own drinks. So like many young children do when buying stuff with their parent’s credit cards. Aqua pays for her drinks by putting them on a tab for Kazuma to pay off. Sometimes the tab can add up to the point where every last earning from a quest will be needed to pay off Aqua’s tab.

2. Kirigakure Shura (Blue Exorcist):

Kirigakure Shura is the mentor of Rin Okumura in Blue Exorcist. Very often, Kirigakure is tipsy or completely smashed. A very memorable episode of Shura getting her drink on is during an episode when the students are out camping. Needless to say, she went overboard that episode. Other than being a heavy drinker, Shura is a very good mentor for Rin and teaches him well. She has a good “personality” and is a good character overall.

3. Yasuko Takasu (Toradora):

Yasuko Takasu is the sweet and loving mother of Ryuuji from Toradora. She is a single mother and works as a Club Entertainer. Due to her work, Yasuko tends to come home very late at night very drunk or tipsy. Soon after her arrival at home, she commonly passes out sitting at the table. Her drinking problem may not be her fault entirely, but due to the circumstances, she tends to enjoy a drink or two.

4. Cana Alberona (Fairy Tail!):

Cana is unique in comparison to the other alcoholics on this list. So she may drink a ton, but she rarely ever gets drunk, no matter how much she drinks. Cana is often shown drinking straight from a beer barrel, but still rarely shows any sign of getting drunk. Overall, Cana is not someone you would want to have a drinking contest with. You may try your best to compete, but I assure you that you’d lose.

5. Cross Marian (D.Gray-man):

Cross Marian is a man who loves to gamble and drink. When he gambles, he makes extravagant bets and, if he loses, he never pays, leaving Allen or someone else to do so. He loves very few things: women, wine, money and beautiful things. When in battle himself, he behaved in a cold and uncaring manner. (Source: D.Gray-man Wiki)

So I’ve never actually watched D. Gray-man before. I’m definitely gonna get hate for not having watched it, but please forgive me! I was told Cross Marian is quite the alcoholic and is a classy one at that. I may not fully understand how classy he is, but I mean. He looks classy as hell.

I hope you enjoyed the Top 5 List of Alcoholics in Anime, and I also hope you enjoy your Saint Patrick’s Day!
