Thousands of Fans Attend Global Premieres for Gachiakuta

By Josh PiedraJuly 10, 2025
Gachiakuta

Over the past week, the Gachiakuta World Takeover kicked into high gear, igniting global fandom through a series of premiere events in 16 countries and regions, vibrant graffiti murals in five cities, immersive installations, among other exciting promotions. A partnership between Crunchyroll and the Gachiakuta Anime Production Committee, this unprecedented campaign marks the arrival of one of the most ambitious anime launches in recent years.

Gachiakuta

Episode 1 is now streaming worldwide on Crunchyroll excluding Japan, China, Russia, Belarus, and Korea. Catch up before Episode 2 drops on July 13 at 8:00 AM PT with new episodes every Saturday!

GLOBAL PREMIERE EVENT

From Los Angeles to Paris, Tokyo to São Paulo, fans eagerly awaiting the new anime series were among the first to experience Gachiakuta with a special global premiere screening of the first two episodes in 16 countries and regions including:

  • Anime Expo (Los Angeles): Featured authors Kei Urana and Hideyoshi Andou, and Bones Film producer Naoki Amano, plus a packed panel and an immersive graffiti installation
  • Japan Expo (Paris): High-profile screening to enthusiastic French fans
  • Anime Friends (São Paulo), Astor Film Lounge (Berlin), PVR Icon (Mumbai), The Space Moderno (Rome), and more!

ANIME EXPO ACTIVATIONS

  • A huge installation featuring main character Rudo’s gloves made of scrap materials, plus live painting by authors Kei Urana and Hideyoshi Andou.
  • High-traffic booth on the show floor with storytelling zones home to a Gachiakuta-themed Scavenger Hunt and ‘Pit Master’ activation, giving fans the opportunity to turn trash into treasure!
  • A 3D billboard takeover in front of the Moxy Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles.

AROUND THE WORLD

In addition to the premieres and Anime Expo activations, the world is now seeing the rebellious, graffiti-inspired aesthetic come to life. The Gachiakuta World Takeover rocked cities around the world with a bold, multi-city marketing campaign timed to the premiere. Highlights include:

  • World Connecting Graffiti: Five murals appeared across Tokyo, Los Angeles, Milan, Taipei, and Hong Kong. When combined, the murals form a secret message “Watch out world!” rallying global fans around Gachiakuta’s arrival.
  • Berlin Train Station Takeover: A first-of-its-kind anime activation at Berlin’s Mehringdamm U-Bahn station featured 137 Gachiakuta posters, blanketing the space in a striking tribute to the series’ visual style.
  • Additional Takeovers: San Francisco bus wraps, a San Diego trolley activation, and other high-traffic placements across major cities continue the campaign’s global expansion.

STILL TO COME: EPISODE 2 – JULY 13

The World Premiere may be over, but the story is just beginning. Gachiakuta Episode 2 lands this Saturday, July 13, only on Crunchyroll. Don’t fall behind—Rudo’s journey is only getting started.
