Techland Cancels Two Games, Excluding Dying Light: The Beast Amid Record Losses

Techland has announced the cancellation of two games in development, which do not include the upcoming Dying Light: The Beast. The company reported record losses for 2024, with a deficit of 135 million złoty (around 37 million dollars). This follows losses of 90 million złoty (around 25 million dollars) in 2023.

It is important to note that Techland hasn’t released a game since 2022, the year Dying Light 2: Stay Human came out. The game is clearly struggling with time, but 2022 was a record year for the company in terms of profits, with around 206 million dollars.

In August 2025, Techland will release the spin-off Dying Light: The Beast, which is expected to bring some relief to the company. However, the bad news of game cancellations has arrived.

The press release issued by Techland did not provide details on which games were canceled; however, it is assumed that one of the canceled projects is the fantasy action game that the team revealed in May 2022. Despite this, a new, yet-to-be-announced project has been launched to replace the two others. Techland has not commented on whether the company will proceed with layoffs, and it is not expected that details about the new project will be shared soon.

These cancellations add to the many others in the industry recently. Just yesterday, Microsoft announced thousands of layoffs within Xbox, with the cancellation of several games.
