When Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel arrived on the Wii many years ago, it changed the way we looked at Mario platforming titles. The previous game, Super Mario Sunshine, was fine, but it didn’t feel like it “elevated” things. These games did, and now, they’re getting a remastered form on the Nintendo Switch 2. While many are already excited for these return journeys to space, a new overview trailer for the titles highlights not only what’s in store but also what new things await you in the games.
In both titles, Mario is asked to go to space to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser. He’ll meet Rosalina and the Lumas in the first game and travel with them across the stars to save the day. Then, in the sequel, he’ll get even more abilities, plus be able to team with Yoshi, and have even more grand adventures.
In the Nintendo Switch 2 editions, you’ll not only get more storybook chapters with Rosalina and the Lumas, but there will also be an “Assist Mode” that will help you when the game gets a bit challenging, including returning you to platforms you fell off of! You can also bring in a friend to help you collect Star Bits, handle enemies, and more. Another new feature is the Soundtrack Mode, where you’ll get to hear the iconic soundtrack from the games, alongside new music that’s being added to the remasters!
We also got details on the Super Mario Galaxy Amiibo and what they’ll offer in the titles. The games arrive on October 2nd, and you’ll likely never want to come back to Earth when you’re done.
