Sucker Punch Director Shuts Down Sly Cooper Revival Hopes

By Todd BlackSeptember 10, 2025
Sly Cooper, Sucker Punch

As the host of the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast, I don’t typically talk on this website about the other gaming franchises I’ve adored over the years. Despite my being a Nintendo fanboy, I have owned two Sony consoles in the past: the PS1 & PS2. And on the PS2 was one of my favorite trilogies ever in the Sly Cooper titles. They were made by Sucker Punch, who is getting ready to release its next big game later this year via Ghost of Yotei. However, even with this, there are certain fans out there who wouldn’t mind seeing the Cooper Gang back in action.

Nate Fox has been at Sucker Punch for a while. In fact, he was the designer for the original Sly Cooper games and is now the co-director of Ghost of Yotei. During a rapid-fire interview with MinnMax, he was asked about returning to Sly and the others and whether the team would be up for it. Sadly, he said that only “10%” of the team would likely want that, mainly because it’s been about 20 years since they worked on the series.

For me and others, that’s a huge letdown, as Sly is a key part of PlayStation’s legacy, not to mention an IP that many recognize to this day. It’s totally fair that they want to push forward with other games and successes, but that doesn’t mean the team can’t go back to it eventually!
