Square Enix has announced that they are teaming up with TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Inc.) to develop a brand-new and original intellectual property game. Outside of the announcement of the collaboration, details about the game have not been revealed; however, the decision to do so was described as an interest in cultivating their fields to deliver a new type of gaming experience to Japan.
TBS has historically had the focus of creating new game IPs as part of its plan to grow its global brand and pioneer digital content. TBS Games was founded in 2023 as part of that initiative.
Of course, Square Enix is primarily known as a role-playing game developer with franchises such as Final Fantasy, Bravely Default, Octopath Traveler, Secret of Mana, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, and many others as part of its portfolio.
