Spoilers – Someone is Deemed Worthy in ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ finally dropped today and I had ended up seeing the amazing this past evening with my wife. Now, there’s no doubt that the movie was full of some special scenes, many of which will on my mind for days, if not weeks to come. It’s not easy for me to say that this was the best MCU movie I’ve ever witnessed, as not only have I’ve made the trek to see them all at least twice in theaters. Many of them could be argued as the best segment because they’re all so damned good.

However, there’s one that fits the bill for me.

Still, when it came to Avengers: Endgame, one moment held more weight than any other. At least for me, it did. Before I get to that, I really want to caution you that we’re going into spoiler territory. So if you haven’t seen the movie yet or don’t want to be spoiled, turn back! Otherwise, read at your own peril.
That said, there comes a time towards the end of the movie. Where Iron Man, Dude Thor, and Captain America approach Thanos and engage him in battle. Needless to say, it was an epic battle, but Thanos easily gets the better of the trio. When all looks lost, it is Captain America who gets right back up (because he can do this all day!). We expected as much, right? It’s freaking Cap and that’s what he does. However, this time it was special. This time, it answers the question on if Captain America/Steve Rogers could ever be worthy enough. Because this time, when he got back up, he did so, while packing some extra firepower.

YES! The moment that every Captain America loving fan wanted to see ever since the comic issues of Mighty Thor #390, Fear Itself #7 and again in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, finally happens. Cap is deemed worthy and when the camera pans on him as he rises, you see him calling Mjölnir to this side. Holy shit, it was beyond awesome. He was chucking his shield, swinging Mjölnir and pulling off some amazing combos with the weapons right into Thano’s smug face. He even stole a page from Thor and was even able to cast lightning at Thanos, all while Thor looks saying to himself that he knew Cap could do lift the hammer. It’s easily one of the best scenes in the entire movie and one I never thought the Russo Brothers would include. Which I’m happy as hell that they did.

So yes, Captain America is indeed worthy and we can all realize that back in Avengers: Age of Ultron, that Cap just didn’t want to humiliate his buddy Thor in any way. Steve Rogers has proven himself over and over again that when push comes to shove. That’s he’s the man you can count on to do the right thing no matter what. The person who was willing to sacrifice everything time and time again. After all of that, it was finally shown on the screen that he was deemed worthy and I loved it.

As for how Mjölnir was even around for him to lift, it’s complicated and I won’t go into that right now.

Speaking of which, I really hope you did see the movie and just didn’t have me spoil this moment for you. Even if you did see the movie, perhaps you should go back again. I know I am as soon as I can get a hold of some more tickets.

Avengers, Assemble!
