Due to timing (and potentially when dev kits were given out), there were some 3rd-party titles that might have seemed perfect for the Nintendo Switch 2 system either at its own launch, or when the games themselves launched, but didn’t go that path. That’s not to say that they wouldn’t come out eventually, as Sonic Racing CrossWorlds proves. The game, which we reviewed and gave a high score to, was already on the Nintendo Switch, but not the Switch 2. However, today, SEGA dropped a trailer for the new port version, when you can get it, and details about the upgrade pack.
So, when will it drop? The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will arrive on December 4th, which is a key day for the Switch 2 for another reason, if you didn’t know. A key thing to note, though, is that the edition will only be the digital version. The physical version will drop early next year. The digital version will cost $70. However, if you got the Switch version and want to upgrade it for the Switch 2 console you now have, we have good news.
From December 3rd to December 10th, the upgrade pack will only cost $5. After that, though, it’ll cost $10. Furthermore, SEGA noted that all content and progress will carry over when you upgrade and play on the Switch 2. That means that the special new characters for Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, including the Ichiban content that dropped yesterday, will be playable on the Switch 2 Edition’s launch.
