Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Demo Speeds Onto Consoles and PC This September

It's time to go Super Sonic Racing, Again!

Sonic Racing Crossworlds Demo Announcement

sega announced more details surrounding the upcoming single-player demo for the highly anticipated Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launching on September 25, 2025. Those who may have missed out on the Open Network Test last month can still experience some high-octane fun with the single-player demo, available globally on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

The single-player demo will be available for free on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic, and Nintendo Switch. Sadly, the demo will not be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users.

Here’s when you can look forward to jumping onto the demo with Sonic and his friends.

  • United States Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 9:00 PM PST / Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 12:00 AM EST
  • United Kingdom (UTC): Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 4:00 AM
  • Japan (JST): Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 1:00 PM

At Summer Game Fest Play Days 2025, we tried the latest Sonic racing: CrossWorlds build and came away impressed. The standout feature is the Rival system—before each Grand Prix, a character is assigned as your rival, complete with unique dialogue and AI focus. Facing Shadow while driving Wave’s bulldozer felt intense, while rivals like Amy Rose added humor.

The game also shakes up racing with vehicle transformations. Collecting rings can turn your car into a boat or plane, opening alternate routes and strategies. Hazards like magnets and bombs, plus bonus red coins, keep every race unpredictable.

With rivals, transformations, deep customization, and confirmed crossplay, CrossWorlds looks ready to deliver a kart racer that can finally challenge Mario’s crown.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launches on September 25, 2025, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam/Epic), while a Nintendo Switch 2 digital version arrives later in 2025 and a physical cartridge follows in early 2026.
