Unveiled today during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted, SOL Shogunate invites players into a striking alternate future where the way of the sword is law. This Space-Samurai, single-player, third-person action RPG is set across a colonized solar system ruled by a powerful shogunate whose grip on power is about to be challenged.

The debut game from Chaos Manufacturing, SOL Shogunate follows Yuzuki, the shattered heir of a once-powerful samurai family massacred by a rival clan. Now an outlaw ronin, Yuzuki carves a bloody path of vengeance through the gleaming metropolises of Earth’s moon, a world of towering space elevators, bullet trains, and opulent districts where the shogunate elite bask in Earthlike comforts from artificial gravity to simulated night. But… beneath each glittering city, countless workers live and die in service to the shogunate, their labor the unseen engine of its power.

Elite-trained and relentless, Yuzuki wields an arsenal rooted in tradition yet reforged for the battlefields of the future. Players can infuse elemental energy into attacks to amplify swift, precise swordplay and exploit enemy weaknesses. As the journey unfolds, new abilities and skill combinations unlock, enabling evolving tactics against increasingly formidable foes. Major encounters are scored dynamically, with music and combat rising in unison to heighten intensity. In collaboration with Japanese rock acts like AliA (アリア), each boss fight is crafted to feel like a dazzlingly violent music video, every strike amplified by driving, emotionally charged tracks.

“With our debut SOL Shogunate, we’re realizing our vision for the first samurai space opera, which brings fluid, spectacle-driven combat to a sci-fi universe that pays homage to the majesty of feudal Japanese tradition,” said Guy Costantini, CEO of Chaos Manufacturing. “We’re fusing combat, story, and music into an experience that we hope players will find thrilling, emotional, and unforgettable.”

Game Features:

  • Unrelenting Samurai Action: Choose from multiple weapon types, each with unique fighting styles and deadly capabilities, to destroy enemies from afar or up close and personal.

  • Transcending Flesh and Steel: Infuse your weapon of choice with different elemental effects to give yourself an edge in combat, and collect gene splices to customize unique skills that suit your approach to combat. From bio-ceramic skin to enhanced vision, upgrade and evolve into the ultimate weapon.
  • The Moon As You’ve Never Seen It: Explore the gleaming artificial gravity-creating metropolises of the moon—each an homage to a revered era in Japanese history and a symbol of the SOL Shogunate’s dominion over the solar system. Traverse the magnificent astro-feudal biomes using gravity assist gear and uncover the secrets of a long-forgotten war.
  • Monumental Boss Fights: Tackle dynamic, cinematic, multiphase boss encounters that challenge you to identify and exploit weaknesses. Music evolves as battles intensify, featuring dynamic tracks hand-crafted for thrilling SOL Shogunate battles by talented recording artists, including Japanese rock band AliA, with more artists to be revealed in the future.

SOL Shogunate is early in development and will be released once it’s ready. Visit the Steam page to wishlist the game and follow Chaos Manufacturing to stay on top of updates.
