Seagate Introduces New Game Drive for Xbox SSD

By Clinton Bowman-ChristieOctober 31, 2016

Seagate is introducing a new 512GB external hard drive solution for Xbox One gamers, with an emphasis on faster booting and loading.

With games taking up 30-50GB on average, Xbox gamers are often making the hard decision on which games to delete and re-install on a regular basis, and as games continuously increase in size, the only option for gamers is to invest in an external solution, as the limited console HDD space isn’t the best.

In addition, the reliance on flash memory, as touted by Seagate, will improve the gaming experience by allowing games to get into the action quicker. The Seagate Game Drive “reduces waiting at welcome screens and enables quicker transitions between levels in top titles like Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4.”

The Seagate Game Drive for Xbox SSD will be available in November for an MSRP of $199.99 at Amazon, GameStop and other retailers.

Seagate Enhances Gaming Experience With New Game Drive For Xbox SSD

CUPERTINO, CALIF.– Seagate Technology plc (NASDAQ: STX), a world leader in storage solutions, today announced the new Game Drive for Xbox SSD, offering elite gamers fast boot and load performance. Designed exclusively for Xbox, it’s an ultra-portable way to store this holiday season’s most popular AAA titles.

The Seagate® Game Drive for Xbox SSD uses flash storage to improve the gaming experience. Helping gamers get into the action quicker, the Seagate Game Drive reduces waiting at welcome screens and enables quicker transitions between levels in top titles like Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4.

With limited console internal drive capacity and game install sizes continuing to increase, users are looking for ways to expand storage. With 512GB of capacity, the Seagate Game Drive lets gamers store approximately 15 of their favorite titles1 and downloadable content. Users can archive less frequently played games on their console and keep a huge library of games at their fingertips on the Seagate Game Drive.

Seagate Game Drive features easy setup and install in seconds. The sleek and stylish aluminum enclosure also complements the Xbox ecosystem. Its compact size and no power cable make it perfect for bringing to a friend’s house2.

Seagate Game Drive for Xbox SSD joins the company’s highly successful HDD version debuted at Gamescom 2015. That model is available in 2TB and 4TB capacities and can store approximately 50 or 100 games respectively.

Pricing and Availability:
The Seagate Game Drive for Xbox SSD will retail for an MSRP of $199.99 USD and will be available in November at Amazon, GameStop and other consumer electronics retailers.
