Samsung’s Odyssey Neo G8 Might Be Your Next Gaming Monitor

While CES 2022 may end up being a bust, it hasn’t stopped Samsung from unveiling its latest gaming monitor, the Odyssey Neo G8. A first glance, it looks like a smaller version of the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 – a massive 49-inch monitor. It shares a few similarities as well.

According to Samsung, the Odyssey Neo G9 is the world’s first to support a 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution while supporting a 240Gz refresh rate and a 1ms response time. The Odyssey Neo G8 includes a 1000R curved screen, powered by Samsung’s Quantum Mini LED technology, which means that the Odyssey Neo G8 will provide a brilliant image quality.

The monitor will be compatible with both AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia’s G-Sync, meaning games should run tear-free. That is if you have a video card that’s powerful enough to push 4K visuals and high frame rates. I’d imagine pushing these pixels that you’d need one of Nvidia’s RTX 3080 Ti or RTX 3090’s, or AMD’s 6800 XT or 6900 XT.

While Samsung was kind enough to share the news about the Odyssey Neo G8, currently, there is no price. While this news has been shared before CES 2022, I’m sure we’ll hear more about the monitor this week.

CES 2022 runs from January 5th – January 8th, 2022. While several companies have pulled out of the popular electronic event due to COVID-19, there are still going to be a number of surprises in store.
