Let me tell you a story. It’s about a little show called Death Battle, made by a man named Ben Singer. He wanted to do a “versus show” that would actually show a winner instead of just two people debating it back and forth with no clear victor. The intent was for the show to go one season. But…it went well beyond that. Today, we got the 200th episode of the series, and to pay tribute to their late friend Monty Oum, they did Ruby vs Maka, a fight the creator of RWBY personally requested once upon a time.
And man, how I wish he could’ve seen this episode. Head Death Battle animator Luis Cruz took point for this 3D fight, and it was AWESOME!!!! This is a true scythe vs. scythe fight, and it played to all the beats you’d want and more from a battle like this.
