If there’s one thing you can say about Suda 51 is that he’s always true to who he is. His games may vary completely in setting from one to another, but his style is clearly evident in all of them. Whether its Shadows of the Damned, Lollipop Chainsaw or his most recent title with SWERY65, Hotel Barcelona, it only takes a few seconds to immediately know that Suda 51 was involved in its creation. However, his current game, Romeo is a Dead Man may just wind up being his magnum opus once it releases very soon.
Romeo Meets Juliet And It All Goes Wrong
Unveiled today by Grasshopper Manufacture, the story trailer for Romeo is a Dead Man serves as an introduction to the narrative of the game. A sheriff’s deputy, Romeo, finds a woman just so happened to be named Juliet lying in the road after suffering from memory loss due to an accident. Somehow this mysterious meeting turns into a enrapturing romance for Romeo. So on the day he decides to leave town with her, a psychotic white devil appears at his home and attacks him.
Thankfully his death is short-lived as by some miracle he is reborn a literal Dead Man. Honestly, there’s no way I could do the narration or moving pictures any sort of justice. One thing is abundantly clear though, this is So Suda 51.
The story trailer also comes out in conjunction with media previews that were also released today. Giving many a first hand look at the game as we are almost less than a month away from the game’s launch. Romeo is a Dead Man promises what we’ve come to expect from Suda 51 by this point off-the-wall humor, bloody action, a unique art style and all sorts of zaniness in-between.
Fortunately, it is releasing on almost everything so more gamers will have a chance to check out Romeo is a Dead Man regardless of whether they play on PC, Xbox Series X|S, or PlayStation 5 once it launches on February 11, 2026.
