When Resident Evil Requiem was announced, it was made clear by the Capcom team that this would be a title that wasn’t just focused on “survival horror,” but that this would be a kind of “epilogue” to the various events that have plagued Raccoon City over the series’ long history. As such, even though the game will star a new character in Grace Ashcroft, many have wondered if other characters from past titles will emerge. According to Producer Masato Kumazawa, that will be the case. However, there is context that matters here.
For example, Grace is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak, so you could argue that other characters from that game might arrive over certain “classic characters.” To that end, Kumazawa made it clear that while “legacy characters” will arrive, you shouldn’t psych yourself up for one of your favorites, as they aren’t telling you who will show up:
I would say that yes, there are going to be some characters from the past series to come in, but don’t over-expect or hype it. We can’t promise you anything about that, but the only thing I can say is that there will be characters that have been involved in the Raccoon City incident involved in the game.
That’s totally fair, and it’ll be interesting to see who else Capcom brings into the horror title when Resident Evil Requiem arrives on February 27th.
