Reburn Announces La Quimera Release Date, Closed Beta, and New Gameplay Trailer

By Keith MitchellApril 7, 2025

Reburn, an independent game development studio, is excited to announce the upcoming release of its debut title, La Quimera — a narrative-driven first-person shooter set in a futuristic Latin American megalopolis. The game will launch on April 25 for PC via Steam, priced at $29.99.

This marks Reburn’s first original IP, with the game’s world and narrative crafted by acclaimed filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn Drive, The Neon Demon) and writer E.J.A. Warren. Set in the sprawling fictional mega-city of Nuevo Caracas, La Quimera follows a struggling private military company caught in a violent conflict between rival factions, shadowy corporations, and supernatural forces. Players wield advanced exosuits in high-stakes missions where the line between reality and illusion begins to blur.

The development team at Reburn includes industry veterans from the Metro series, including gameplay and AI designer Oleksandr Kostiuk, now serving as project lead. Reburn CEO Dmytro Lymar brings years of experience from his previous role as director and CEO of 4A Games Ukraine. There’s lots of talent on this team, many of whom have worked on previously released first-person shooters, so I’m hoping that La Quimera is amazing.

Our Reburn team can’t wait to finally share our hard work and vision for La Quimera with players on April 25,” said Lymar. “Ahead of our release, we invite players to join us in our closed beta to get an early look at the co-op experience for our vision of Nuevo Caracas and far beyond.

To coincide with the announcement, Reburn has also unveiled the first gameplay trailer for La Quimera. The footage highlights the game’s unique blend of sci-fi world-building, Latin American mysticism, and intense shooter mechanics. Players can deploy powerful exosuit abilities — from multitarget electric shocks to threat scanning and agile dodges — as they face off against robotic enemies and futuristic firepower. The game features three-player co-op, encouraging squads to strategize together while exploring both the dense cityscape and surrounding jungles of Nuevo Caracas.

To give players an early taste of the action, Reburn is hosting a 24-hour closed beta on April 12, starting at 7 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. UTC. Access can be requested via La Quimera’s Steam page, though availability is limited. The beta will feature a critical mid-game mission, playable solo or in co-op gameplay.
