There was plenty of anticipation going into this new Pokemon Presents, as the Nintendo Switch 2 is now out, and many wondered if The Pokemon Company would announce something new for it. Sadly, the answer wasn’t just “no,” but that we would only get light updates on everything, and get thrown a bunch of other things that you likely won’t care about. Don’t worry, I’ll cover the good bits in my Pokemon Presents July 2025 Recap! Oh, and I’ll skip all the mobile game stuff, as there wasn’t really anything special there.
First, let’s talk about Pokemon Legends Z-A, which got a nice overview trailer detailing its story mode and the characters you’ll interact with and even battle alongside! We learned that you’ll join “Team MZ,” and work to protect Lumiose City from threats. One of those threats is actually Mega Evolved Pokemon! According to a detective named Emma, wild Pokemon are somehow Mega Evolving without the need of a trainer, and they’re going on a rampage in the city! You and your Team MZ allies must put a stop to them. Plus, there’s a group called the “Rust Syndicate” that seems to have some beef with you, and you’ll have to deal with its leader, Corbeau.
We also get a glimpse at Lumiose City and how you’ll get to do side quests to help its people and Pokemon, while also chilling with your own Pokemon! Check it out below:
The other big thing to point out in my Pokemon Presents July 2025 Recap is the newest trailer for Pokemon Champions. The game will focus entirely on bringing Pokemon into battle against other players, and you’ll have plenty of options on how to do that. For getting your team ready, you can either bring in Pokemon from Pokemon Home, or use the ones that’ll be available in the game itself. Plus, through special training, you’ll actually be able to pick out your perfect moveset and the stats you want on the Pokemon!
Just as important, via online battles, you can do “Ranked Matches,” “Casual Matches,” and “Private Battles.” So, whether you want to test your skills or just have a fun clash with friends, you have plenty of options.
There were some other interesting announcements during the event, including the shadow-drop reveal of Pokemon Friends, which is a puzzle game you can play on both mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch. Check it out below:
We also got updates on the return of Pokemon Concierge, alongside a new series made by the Wallace & Gromit team, and a bunch of updates for Pokemon Go, Unite, Cafe ReMix and more. You can watch the full presentation below:
