Pokemon Pokopia Announced At Nintendo Direct

Making an island of Poke-friends!
By Todd BlackSeptember 12, 2025
Pokemon Pokopia

Going into today’s Nintendo Direct, there were plenty of rumors about what might be shown, and one such tease was for a new “Pokémon spinoff game.” Sure enough, that prediction came true, as Pokemon Pokopia was revealed, a collaboration between Game Freak and Koei Tecmo! The best way to describe this game, and it’s not an insult, is Animal Crossing: New Horizons meets Pokémon. In the game, you’ll play a Ditto that transforms itself into a human. Then, after meeting some other Pokémon, they decide to build a nice home for themselves in the land they’re on.

As Ditto meets more Pokémon, it’ll get more abilities that it needs to create things like crops, homes, shape the landscape, and so on. The trailer highlights a LOT of pocket monsters that’ll be available to players. So, if it really does “match the vibes” of Animal Crossing, this could be a game that could keep players entertained for a long time as they make a “perfect place” for themselves and their Poke-pals.

Pokemon Pokopia arrives on the Nintendo Switch 2 next year.
