Playstation VR Playable During Sony’s “Road to Greatness Tour”

By Cody MaynardApril 30, 2016

With all of the updates surrounding the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive (and those Lil’ Wayne commercials for Samsung), you might have forgotten all about PlayStation VR. Apparently, Sony hasn’t. From now through November, they’re showing it off on their “Road to Greatness Tour,” and here’s how you can see it.

The “Road to Greatness Tour” is basically a roaming PlayStation experience packed inside a 16-wheeler, which Sony says “unfolds like a Transformer.” You can find the list of stops here – https://www.playstation.com/en-us/campaigns/road-to-greatness/. There are 27 stops listed for the tour this year, which is three times as many as when it started in 2014. A few locations are already posted, but most of the dates are still “To Be Announced.”

The PlayStation Blog states that only a few dozen people will be able to sample the VR games at each stop, so show up early if you’re dying to try it out. There are other things to do, of course – Sony will be showing off some new games, like Uncharted 4 and MLB The Show 16 (not really a huge incentive since The Show was already released and Uncharted will be soon), and there will also be tournaments with PlayStation swag going to the victors.

The Road to Greatness Tour kicked off Friday, April 29 on Beale Street in Memphis. If you’re in the vicinity this weekend, maybe swing by and check it out – if you’re not one of the lucky few who get a chance to sample the VR games, well you are on Beale Street, so grab a beer. I mean, you can drink on the street there, people.
