Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen Announces Sweeping Changes Next Spring

By Josh PiedraDecember 17, 2025

Visionary Realms has announced that their upcoming MMORPG, Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, will be undergoing sweeping changes in their Spring 2026 update to bring a better balance to the game based on player feedback.

Highlights of the changes include:

  • Increased Time-to-Kill on enemies
  • Removal of chevrons (elite enemies)
  • Significant experience buffs to all mobs killed
  • A smoother leveling experience via EXP adjustments past level 20
  • A better experience for solo players while retaining group-focused areas such as dungeons
  • Introduction of the Mastery System
  • Revamp of how Weapon Techniques are learned
  • Kill credit based on first hit vs most damage done
  • & More

Visionary Realms’ Creative Director Chris “Joppa” Perkins has been uploading dev diaries every weekday. There are also more in-depth blogs on pantheonmmo.com that go into detail about the changes. Quick links can be found below:

  • Part Two: Unified NPC Templates
  • Part Three: Combat Formula Adjustments
  • Part Four: Kill Credit & NPC Spawning
  • Part Five: Leveling & Experience Progression
  • Part Six: Skills & the Evolution of Techniques
  • Part Seven: Adventuring Mastery

These changes were announced as a release candidate for these systems. Meaning, this is how they wish the game to function in its 1.0 state. Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen is still in Early Access and still considered in active development.

Unfortunately, Joppa mentioned that the changes are so significant that current characters will not be able to utilize the new templates, so a character wipe will be performed with the Spring update. Joppa previously stated that the goal was to avoid any character wipes until 1.0, unless something completely unavoidable arose. This was one of those unavoidable instances. While the announcement was met with negativity, all characters were going to be wiped when 1.0 launched anyway, and character wipes in an actively-developing MMORPG are normal, especially to those of us who tested during Pre-Alpha when wipes happened in almost every test session.

In addition, Visionary Realms announced that the Mount system and Double XP event will hit servers on Friday, December 19!
