Outerhaven Anime: First Reaction – Kamisama ni Natta Hi

By Josh PiedraOctober 10, 2020

At least the premise sounded good…

…and then the characters opened their mouths.

It was all over from there.

Let’s Go!

First Episode Synopsis

Yota was playing basketball with his friend Ashura when this kid dressed as a nun and calling herself Odin appeared. At first, they thought that she was nothing more than a lost child; however, she has an incredible power… she can predict the future. With this power, she tells them that the world is going to end in 30 days.

Yota doesn’t believe her… that is until she predicts that it will rain, the winners of two horse races, and what kind of pitches a pitcher will throw at him as he tries to impress the girl he’s in love with. After she gets everything right, she declares that she is going to live with him until the end of the world. Odin tells him to call his parents and they will agree to let her stay… which they do.

And that’s pretty much it for the first episode.

Worth Watching?

NO – If you enjoy characters screaming at the top of their lungs as a way to present dialogue as comedy… then go nuts on this show.

I, on the other hand, wanted to choke Odin with my bare hands after only getting to the half-way point of the first episode. I hate, hate, hate, HATE shows where characters overreact in an attempt to make a show funny. It’s irritating, it’s annoying, and I don’t find any of it funny at all. I gave the first episode the benefit of the doubt and while the whole “world is going to end” thing does make me want to watch and see what happens, unfortunately, the voice acting in this shows makes me believe that it’s a mystery I can live without knowing the answer to.

Shows like this don’t often get better. They just stay the same for 12 long annoying episodes. I’d rather save myself the pain and watch some other stuff that I know will deliver the type of entertainment that this show, most likely, will not.
