Outerhaven Anime: First Reaction – Dokyuu Hentai HxEros

By Josh PiedraJuly 12, 2020

GO! GO! HENTAI RANGERS!

That pretty much sums up Dokyuu Hentai HxEros but I presume that a little context is probably needed regardless.

We all know some shows in Japan are… well… out there, to say the least. This show is one of those shows. It is an anime that mixes lewdness with comedy with a splash of Power Rangers action. It’s a really far-fetched story but was it entertaining enough to keep watching or is this just a trash-tier throwaway title?

Let’s Go!

First Episode Synopsis

Hoshino and Retto are kids sitting alone in a treehouse. Hoshino wants to hold hands with Retto and she does. Fast forward five years and we learn that aliens have invaded Earth and they are stealing erotic energy from humans or… H-Energy… as one scientist likes to call it. This is so powerful, it made a teen idol lose all sexual drive and made her contemplate getting a real job.

After this praying mantis-like alien absorbs the idol and concert-goers’ energy, she is confronted by Retto who wears this wristband that converts his sexual energy into power. He One-Punch Man’s the alien into the atmosphere Team Rocket-style and causes all of his clothes to explode off his body like he tasted a dish from Food Wars, leaving him bare ass in the middle of the outdoor theater.

Meanwhile, Retto returns to school after getting his bracelet fixed by an effeminate middle-aged male scientist and confronts Hoshino about how she has changed. She is no longer the sweet girl he remembers from five years ago. It is implied that Hoshino had her sexual energy stolen which is why Retto chooses to fight. The reality of it is that she actually couldn’t have her energy stolen because she had too much of it! The alien couldn’t believe how much sexual energy Hoshino had and ended up self-destructing. Ever since that day, Hoshino closed off her heart to boys… that is until the mantis monster returned with an upgraded body and confronted the two of them on the way home from school.

After running away and holding hands, Hoshino’s heart is unlocked and her sexual power joins with Retto’s. Together, they obliterate the alien at the expense of both of their clothes but it’s okay because three other girls show up and give her a key to their house because Hoshino is now a part of the HxEros squad… and now we have a Power Rangers Harem on our hands!!

Worth Watching?

MAYBE – I know a lot of these kinds of shows are all dependent on the mindset of the viewer. You’re either going to sit here and laugh your ass off (like I did) at this show and enjoy it or you’re going to scoff at how it’s just an excuse to see some fanservice all wrapped around the tired Power Rangers formula. Still, it was interesting enough for me to keep watching so I am going to do just that. We all need that burst of comedy from time to time and since my humor is about as perverse as they come, I know that I am going to enjoy this show.

In a way, it reminds me of Samurai Flamenco… if Samurai Flamenco was a softcore, made-for-tv hentai. All that was missing was a growing monster (giggity) and some Zords. It’s only Episode 1… so there is plenty of time to bust out some giant transforming robots… or they could take the magical girl route and just give them powers. Judging by the opening which served as the first episode’s ending, that may very well be the case.

Either way, this is just brainless entertainment that can make you laugh but only if you have the right type of mindset for it. I, for one, do so I’m going to be sticking with this one.
